The rock n roll swindle failed wonderfully here-but at least they had a go. Ten years too early-ten tooyears late???
The best band this town has produced since Period Pians (no one got them either).
Sometimes genius is wasted on the massesAlex is a genius and an idiot in equal measure-we wouldnt have it any other way-we nearly killed each other. He was only Kevin Rowland/Mark E SmithIt was (sort of) fun. It really did nearly tip us over the edge-the men in white coats nearly came callingMaybe if they looked like Hilter Youth or Oakey Cokey Bar Staff-then the 'idiots' might have seen the sheer greatness of this rabble. Like we say the greatness bands always go undiscovered.
We are jealous-they can quit-we cant quit this the next revolution is always just round the corner and in all in the same week that we heard that the genius that was Nick Sanderson (Earl Brutus) passed away aswell.......

Doors 8pm £5 door £4 flyer All Ages!!!Bands: To The Barricades/Ben God Marwood/Joey Ultra After the successful launch of the revamped Bandorama night-Club Velocity now hit its full stride-so much that from August this night will be every third Saturday. Its good to keep you on your toes, dont you think? TO THE BARRICADESTheir lead singer is called Dickie Goodspeed (you couldnt make it up? How rocknroll is that name?) who used to sit downwhilst palying live. One day someone stole his stool, thus he now has to stand up. He is that punk rock. Piano led epic guitar greatness, that in an utopia wouldbe rammed down your ears on an hourly cycle. The band that your mother will love, she just doesnt know it yet. Yes you mum loves Dick."Lush, sweeping guitars and soaring vocals," Steve Lamacq (Radio 1)
BEN GOD MARWOODIf you look on page 354 on the Bible it states very clearly that young Ben created you, me, smoothies, the perfect heart felt song andgerman gabba. For this we salute him. The best talent in Reading by a furlong. If he was a horse he would be a Grand National champion. No sandals or facial hair here.
JOEY ULTRACheck out GG Allin videos on youtube. Binz (not the greatest rocknroll name on the planet) is the local GG. Sort of without the viloence, nudeness andeverything else GG was 'famous' for. Okay he isnt GG he is more like Sid Vicious without the American girlfriend and the herion overdose-but there is always time. Are Joey Ultra the ultimate punk rock band or just utterly pointless? You decide. Get voting. However it is said that the London Mayor Boris Johnson is a fan of Binz and the band.As said lead singer works in ploitics. Mad? We should coca cola. HaHaHaHa times tenThis will be sexy!!

TRIPWIRESOnce called The Engima Project. The four piece actually started out as far back as 2002. They were all about 12. They are still all under 19. November 2007 they became Tripwires, got management by the same company that gave the world the Spice Girls and X Factor. They are now not only one of the best forward thinking local bands around, they should be easily the next local band to step up to the next level. This is a rare(ish) Reading show-as they are now all students either studying at Bristol, Bath or Cardiff. This is a band taht you would be (very) stupid to miss."Think Biffy Clyro meets Cooper Temple Clause. Compelling British Rock, " Designer Magazine"Euphonic and awesome, this is a slice of uplifting rock on a grand scale, " Overplaywww.myspace.com/tripwires
MR FOGGA rare live outing by local electronic pop genius. Mr Fogg is rated by a who whos in the world of UK media. He has done numerous live sessions for everyone from Janice Long to Tom Robinson. Live he seriously rocks, as he employs a live band that consists of ex members of Libor Spacek and current members of Pure Reason Revolution. The boy is Jesus in our house. "Ace,ace, ace," Huw Stephens"You wont get this out of your head," Janice Long"Astounding," Tom Robinsonwww.myspace.com/mrfoggisapopstar
THE WOOKIESCurrently are based in Newbury, but will be moving to Reading in July. The Wookies are a really hard band to describe. They used to a tad too progressive rock. You know the sort of band who think growing a wacky beard is cool or wearing sandals. They have been hanging out with ex members of Wire and listening to Slayer. This makes them a far more exciting and sexy prospect of a musical adventure. They sing about hospitals and animals and hose pipe bans. Crazy kids. They will make you smile."Fantasmagical," BlahBlah"They play jazz-infected indie pop and they are here to save the world with some of the oddest pop songs ever," Josakawww.myspace.com/thewookiesuk
THE STORM EXPLOSIONHow much longer do we have shout!?How great the local music scene is? Are you (Really) taking notes-yeah you at the back. The Storm Explosion number four, they remind us (in too many wonderful places) of the long lost mighty God Machine. If you dig Godspeed, Explosions In The Sky, Mogwai and Richard Ashcroft as a singer then they could quite (easily) by your favourite new band. This is their debut gig.! Turn up early.www.myspace.com/thestormexplosion

DESDEMONA/SIXTY WATT BAYONETS/MIDIMIDIS
DESDEMONALocal Living Legends. Lets be frank if it wasnt for Desdemona-then the music (Local) scene seriously would not be what it is now. There would be Pete and the Pirates, no Laura Marling, no Beggars and so on. They are main stayers of the Reading music scene. The great late John Peel loved them. The Germans still do. They basically run the umber cool/sassy music publication Artrocker. They are GODs in our house. www.myspace.com/desdemonapop
SIXTY WATT BAYONETSOur fave female fronted punk/soul band for years. This will be their sixth ever gig and they have improved ten fold since their debut outing. They could be the revolution. Recently played on the near legendary Popscene Radio Show in Germany. Soon to mixed by Adam Whitaker (currently working with Amy Winehouse) This band are starting to burn-this is one fire that could never go out. www.myspace.com/sixtywattbayonets
MIDIMIDISTwo sex GODS, who are creating their own punk rock. Musically totally on another planet. Their backing band is basically a Play Station. Some might call this chip music. Others 8 bit. Its like no other band on planet Earth. Imagine the posh boy from Strokes whilst Sonic Youth rip guitars until your ears bleed and 'crazy' beats being created on a small box. Awesome. www.myspace.com/midimidis

Yes, track one from CD single cat no VEL006CD will be played on the nation's (second) favourite radio station Radio 1 on Easter Monday (march 24th) morning, sometime between 2am and 3.30am.As part of the National Student Radio Awards winners' show, Three Litre's "I Hate Christmas" has been chosen to be played by Lancaster University's Kenny Donohue who won Best Male DJ at 2007's award. Kenny has been consistently playing the song since Sid sent him a copy on its release in 2002 and it surely had to be one of the major contributing factors to his success. If you can't listen on the night then I'm sure the BBC's Listen Again facility will be your friend.
You can purchase this classic single direct from the webshop For more detailed infomation on Three Litre so to their page on this website. Many thanks.

CLUB VELOCITY FIFTH BIRTHDAY PARTY
Club Velocity 5th birthday party. Five years ago March 2003 at the wonderful Rising Sun Arts Centre on Silver Strreet, Reading Club Velocity was born with three truely great bands. That being The Vaults/The Snags/Yumiyumi. It was very hot and stupidly busy. Since then we brought Reading Bloc Party first (two shows at Silver Street September 2003 and March 2004) Helped nuture the very healthy (wake up if dont realise how great the Reading music scene is) local scene bu nuturing the likes of The Race, Pete and the Pirates, Six Nastion State, Heartwear Process et al. Very chuffed to have brought Glasvegas (again first to Reading) last August, they are the revolution. Club Velocity is not a cool gig, its an A&R gig. The Oakford Social club dont want us. Its fun. When it works, it really works. Its a punk/DIY wonderland. Will it exist in five years time? Seriously hope not!

SIX NATION STATE A band that remember the little man (ie Club Velocity) Have lost count how many times they have played Club Velocity. Six Nation State are the hardest working band locally. They play live every other day. They have a huge hardcore/DIY heart. They have pain in their veins. Their debut album released by Jeepster (who gave birth to Snow Patrol) is a stonking debut that you really do need in your life! www.myspace.com/sixnationstatetheband
SIXTY WATT BAYONETS There are two new local bands that excite us-Sixty Watt Bayonets are one and Midimidis are the other. This will only be the third ever Sixty Watt Bayonets show. They are already tighter than many well more established outfits. They are young and sassy. They are redefining the sound of punk. Oh Will the guitarist is the newphew of Bruce Foxton from THE JAM!!! SIXTY WATT BAYONETS Remind us of that summer in Olympia, years making zines, folding seven inch sleeves, sleeping rough to watch bands,. the smell of girl/boy revolution, John Peel, Kim Gordon, Sonic Youth , K Records. Thank these kids for the instant punk sugar hit, that they give every time we play their demo. We booked them for three gigs, after listening to thirty seconds of their demo. Feb 29th will be their debut gig. THE NOYZE Lets get this straight The Noyze are a great, great band. A rael band for real people . No nonsense. No crap. A proper band. A must see live. - KICKS Same as above. Kicks are one of the best unsigned bands in the world. 2007 they were on the most sought after bands in the UK by the majors. The majors bottled it. Told them to go and record an album-then come back. Hilarous. That makes us want to kill the Wombats. Their first Club Velocity gig for nine months. You would be stupid to miss it.
DIAMOND LINES The most improved band in town. They now can swagger with the best of them. Also they have now have a song under four minutes. Diamond geezers indeed.
JOEY ULTRA Oh god are they still alive? Wasnt this a 5 minute art-IT wank fest? Apaprently not.At least the police can have a night off and not worry about the sex feind and lead singer of this experiment Binz. They strum-you cum?

We have got our teeth in here already. This will be their first ever live outing. The demo blew our head off. We booked them within thirty seconds. They remind us of while we do this! For us they are the missing link between Olympia, WA cool-Riot Grrl suss and Artrocker (boo!!) nowness. Shart sharp punk with a big fat cherry on top.Its year zero and confirm that most bands/music is totally pointless.Remember girls invented punk rock NOT England. www.myspace.com/sixtywattbayonets MIDIMIDIS Another fave of ours-the NU Reading cool-skool.
